Houston- Elizabeth Mary (Gardinier) Friday, 93, passed away at her home in Houston, Texas on March 16, 2022. Elizabeth was born February 23, 1929 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady and spent the next 75 years within a few miles of where she grew up. She graduated from Nott Terrace High School where she met her future husband, Charles M. Friday, an Army Air Force veteran returning to the high school he had left to join the war effort. Charles and Elizabeth were married in November 1949 and had two children. Elizabeth worked at Hillside Elementary School for 25 years as a teacher’s aide in the Physical Education Department. The family often-spent time at Lake George and other areas in the Adirondacks enjoying boating, swimming, cross-country skiing, hiking and snowmobiling. She also loved Cape Cod and enjoyed biking through the dunes, shopping, and relaxing on the beaches at Herring Cove and Race Point. Elizabeth loved dogs, specifically poodles, and had four over a period of many years. She is survived by a son, Michael Friday (Christine), a daughter, Susan Laubenstein (Joseph), four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held June 13, 2022 at 11:00 am at Park View Cemetery in Schenectady. Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
