Schenectady- Juan S. Esquivel, 91 of Schenectady passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Ellis Hospital. Juan Esquivel was a loving father to his children, grandchildren, and all his family. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on March 5, 1929. He was married to Mercedes Monge Esquivel for 59 years. Juan moved to Schenectady on December 25, 1981 with his wife and children. He lived his final days with his children Julio, Victor and Juanita on Emmett Street. Some of Juan’s children lived in Schenectady, and two lived in Florida. They all took the time to care for him and be with him every time he was not well, as he was always there for all of them, as a father, grandfather, and friend. He was a member of the Church of God New Beginnings on State Street in Schenectady. He was a Chaplain for the City of Schenectady. He took the time visit the prisoners and preached the gospel of God. He was a great father who will be missed by his children. He called all his children and grandchildren by their own unique nickname. He was loved and always will be loved and remembered by his family. Juan was a fighter who hung on until he could hang on no longer. He knew his time on earth was up and told his daughter Juanita that his time was done here. He said, “my time is counted here, I only have a few hours left, I want my children to be together always, and look out for each other, as your mom and now I wil not be here, but you all need to be here for each other and always be together.” He is an angel, and now he has gone to rest in peace with his wife Mercedes and his children Juanito, Samuel, and Leticia. He is survived by his children, Julio, Victor, Juanita, Ricardo, Lupe, Nuemi, Esther, Rebecca, and Ruth; he is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 72 great great grandchildren, and 14 great great children. Rest in Peace Dad, Papi, Abuelo, “Viejo” “Anormal” “Malo” “Puerco” “Mojon.” Our hero, our fighter-we do not say goodbye to you, but instead say “see you later.” Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 10 am to 11:45 am at Church of God, 920 State Street, Schenectady. Burial will immediately follow at Park View Cemetery. Masks, social distancing and limited occupancy will be enforced
