Kathleen J. (Kathy) Plante

December 27, 1951 - March 31, 2021

Sarasota Florida. Kathleen J. Plante (Kathy) passed away on March 31, 2021 after a long battle with Multiple System Atrophy. Born October 27, 1951 in Camden N.J. she was the daughter of the late Russell Eggleston of Philadelphia, and Elaine Brown of South Glens Falls. Kathy graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1970 and acquired an Associates Degree from Adirondack Community College. Kathy worked as a Ward Clerk at Glens Falls Hospital until 1989. She then changed careers and went to work at National Grid. She worked in bookkeeping, dispatch, but most of her career was as a Gas Planner in Saratoga and Glens Falls. She retired in 2014. She was nicknamed “Red” by her coworkers due to the red in her hair. In 2000 she married the love of her life, James Plante. Their time together was brief with Jim’s passing in 2006, but it was filled with love and laughter. They are finally back together. Kathy was a unique individual, generous, thoughtful and funny. So very, very funny. She was quick with a zinger that could make a grown man blush. There wasn’t a person who didn’t love her. She loved to shop for clothes and jewelry, always looking amazing in her outfits. She also loved to travel, garden and cook, often making meals for her coworkers. The entire family would gather at her house for delicious holiday meals. She was predeceased by her father, Russell Eggleston, husband James Plante and sister-in-law Joan Crawford. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Elaine and Dan Brown of South Glens Falls, son Robert Doherty Jr, stepson James (Stephanie) Plante of Glens Falls, stepdaughter Jennifer (Michael) Shaver of Queensbury, grandchildren Dakota Doherty, Sophia Plante, Cameron and Caroline Shaver. She is also survived by siblings Peggy (Dan) Wendlick of Longwood FL, Susan Eggleston of Sarasota FL, Joseph Brown of Newburyport, MA and Cindy (Mark) Casey of Ballston Lake NY, an uncle Bruce Beecroft, niece Rachael (Bryce) Caputo and nephew Anthony (Justina) Petralia. Friends and relatives are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m., on Friday April 16, 2021 at Regan Denny Stafford Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Rd, Queensbury, NY. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday April 17, 2021 at Southside Cemetery, Gansevoort Road, South Glens Falls.
