Kevin J. Dooley Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Kevin J. (Poppa) Dooley, 6x, of Scotia, New York, has gone to join his parents in Heaven and will watch over his family from above. His passing to a place of health and rest occurred on Monday, June 26, 2022 from his home after fighting a war with cancer. He won many battles during his time living with this disease yet cancer prevailed. Born in Troy, New York to Kathleen and John (Jack) Dooley, his siblings include Patricia (Michael) Rosney, Kathie (Robert) Abeel. After graduating Catholic Central High School in Lansingburgh, New York, Kevin entered the Army and served many years in his infantry and personnel positions. His army adventure included living in Hawaii and visiting locations such as Sydney, Australia, Panama, and many places in Southeast Asia. After coming home and participating in his High School Reunion, he met his wife of 30 years, Robin (Barker) Dooley. They were wed at St. Williams in Troy, New York. Kevin worked at Millwork Specialties, Mercer Management, Albany Management and Burns Management. He also was a stay-at-home Dad for a period of time and enjoyed spending time with his boys and taking care of the family. Kevin participated in bowling leagues for many years, since High School and enjoyed meeting and getting to know his bowling colleagues. An avid NY Giants, Rangers and Yankees fan, Kevin liked to attend games when he was able. Relaxing was camping with his family and finally becoming a seasonal camper, where his family extended to friends and neighbors in the Twin Oaks community. Kevin was always checking in on his camp neighbors on his prized possession, his golf cart with many lights and sounds. With camping came Kevin’s enjoyment of cornhole where he’d organize tournaments and get a few ringers of his own. His favorite vacation spot with the family was Hampton Beach where he’d do his best Baywatch impressions and body-surf the waves. He’d always take the time to show the children how to catch a wave and ride it to shore. Kevin is survived by his wife, his sons Jeremiah Dooley and Zachariah (Melayna) Dooley and his granddaughter, Amelia Dooley, who brought him much joy and love. He is predeceased by his granddaughter, Bayleigh Dooley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, Daniel (Kelly) Rosney, Shannon (Rosney) (Ken) Eagen, Lisa (Rosney) (Eric) Snyder, Rebecca (Massey) (Ryan) Ladlee, and his great-nephew, Tyler Ladlee. His family tree goes beyond those mentioned and he enjoyed his time with each and every one. He always looked forward to family gatherings and would plan many cookouts.
