Leonard C. Stewart

Leonard C. Stewart Glenville, NY – Leonard C. Stewart, 86, of Glenville, NY passed away on Wednesday February 23, 2022 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a short illness. Born on May 25, 1935 in San Diego, CA he was the son of the late Virgil and Edith Moore Stewart. In Leonard’s younger years he traveled with his family, living is several different states throughout the country. Leonard served in the United States Air Force as a crew chief on the B-47 bombers. Leonard was a member of the Masonic fraternity for 48 years and was an active member in many of the various bodies with the organization. He was a past master of Meridian Lodge #691, past high priest of Sacandaga #116 RAM, and past sovereign prince of Sigma Bodies AASR. He was a member of Beukendaal Lodge, St George’s Lodge, Chapter, Council, and Commandery, as well as numerous Shrine related and York Rite invitational bodies. Leonard worked various jobs throughout his life, lastly working for KeySpan in Hicksville, NY until his retirement in 2005. In his retirement Len especially enjoyed bird watching and his volunteer work with SICM food bank, and the Salvation Army. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his first wife, Petria A. Stewart whom he married in 1959, she died in 1995; and his second wife, Sandra Lee Erschen whom he married in 2005, she died in 2021. Survivors include his two children, Scott L. (Jeanette) Stewart and Gayle (Ken) Dawson; his step-son, Mathias Erschen IV; a brother, Virgil (Barbara) Stewart; and his granddaughter, Morgan Stewart. Calling hours will be held on Friday March 4, 2022 from 4 until 6pm followed by a Masonic service at 5:30pm and Memorial Service at 6pm at The White Funeral Home, 264 N. Ballston Ave, Scotia. Burial will take place in Woestina Cemetery, Rotterdam Junction in the spring.
