Lillian Ruth Samuel, 89, daughter of the late Clara Benjamin and Frank Samuel, was born on July 20, 1931 in Evergreen, Alabama, and called home to rest, Thursday, September 24, 2020. Lillian attended public school in Evergreen, Alabama. She came to Albany, NY in 1948 and worked for Albany Memorial Hospital, Tobin Packing Company, and Albany County Nursing Home as the Department and Supervisor Head of Housekeeping. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved only son, Larry Samuel who passed on December 28, 2010; her sisters Willie May Grier, Lucille Grier, Mary Taylor, and Georgia Mae Moore, Lillian Lee, and her brothers, Jimmy L. Grier and Fred L. Stephens. She leaves to mourn her death, her two granddaughters, Lavinia (Carlos) Garrett, and Tracy Joseph; her special daughter, Rheanna Terry whom she cared for from the early age of eight months; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Gale W Samuel and Patricia Faulkner. Lillian joined Star Bethlehem Baptist Church on Jay Street in 1984 when it was first started. She was a dedicated choir member, headed the kitchen and was a Sunday school teacher. Most importantly she was considered the ‘MOTHER’ of the church. She loved her God, her family, and friends.
