Lina Basnak

November 7, 1925 - February 27, 2022

LINA (MICCOLE) BASNAK ROTTERDAM: Lina Basnak passed away peacefully on February 27, 2022 after a brief illness. Born in Chieti, Italy and traveled to America in 1945 for a better life. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Angela Miccole. She is the last of her six siblings. Lina worked very hard all her life. She retired from Campbell Plastics after many years. Lina was a long-standing member of The Abruzzese Society of Schenectady where she developed many long-term friendships. It was a connection to Italy, where she left all her family. Lina enjoyed working in her garden, cooking for her family, playing bingo, and most importantly being with her family. “Nonni” was the name anyone who met her referred to her. She loved life and GOD. She was predeceased by her husband of 31 years, the late Joseph Basnak who passed away in 1991. She was a devoted wife and friend to her husband and missed him every day. Survivors include her only daughter, Donna Lee Ehrenberg. Her beloved son-in law Jules Ehrenberg. Lina had four grandchildren; Sarah Iovilevich and her husband, Yaniv Iovilevich, Jamie Ehrenberg, Leah Ehrenberg, and David Ehrenberg. She is also survived by her goddaughter Linda Miller and her husband Thomas. Lina Basnak lived life fully. She loved her grandchildren most of all. She lived the last six years with her daughter and family. The family was blessed with her wit, cooking, and the tremendous love she had for them. There are no words to describe how much she will be missed. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 9 am to 10 am at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am, celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany St., Schenectady. Entombment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park, 2150 Central Ave., Schenectady.
