Periklis "Perry" K. Hais

February 8, 1929 - October 1, 2021

Tebbutt Funeral Home COLONIE – Periklis “Perry” Hais, 92, of Colonie, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, October 1, 2021. Born in Suez, Egypt, he was the son of the late Konstantinos and Vallasia Hais. Raised in Piraeus, Greece, at a young age, Periklis quickly learned to raise his family during World War II. He later met the love of his life, Popi, and the two were married on September 10, 1969. Together with Popi and her brothers, Periklis owned and operated the Colonie Diner and other food establishments in the area. He enjoyed his family immensely and was considered “Pappou” to everyone who was touched by his kindness. He belonged to St. George Greek Orthodox Church and was a man of strong faith. Periklis will always be remembered for his family values, knowledge, love of history and Greek heritage and his big heart. Mr. Hais is survived by his sons, Kostas “Gus” Hais (April Decker) of Loudonville; Nicholas Efstathiou (Colleen) of Loudonville; his son-in-law, Tony Loupessis of Colonie; his sister Kristali Demopoulos; his nephew Antonis Moudatsou; his niece Valassia Gkouvousis (Theodore) and their sons, all of Piraeus, Greece; and grandchildren, Petros and Popi Loupessis; Demos and Catherine Efstathiou; Madyson and Quentin Powell and Taylor “Reya” Hais; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family, local and living in Greece. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Popi Hais; daughter, Marigoula Loupessis; and infant daughter, Vallasia Hais; as well as three sisters, Katina, Eleni, Maria and brother Stavros Hais. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Tebbutt Funeral Home, 633 Central Ave., Albany, with Trisagion Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 107 Clinton St., Schenectady. Interment to follow at Graceland Cemetery, Albany. Memorial contributions to: St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
