Howland, Richard A. Clifton Park— Richard A. Howland, 81, of Clifton Park, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Yorkville, NY on February 27, 1940, he was the son of the late LeRoy P. and Elizabeth Rice Howland. Following his education, Richard proudly served his country with the US Air Force. He later served as town judge in Floyd, was employed as a firefighter for the Watervliet Arsenal. He was a longtime member of the ELKS and the Italian American Club in Troy. Richard volunteered his culinary talents as a chef at the Equinox Center in Albany for many years as well as cooking, campaigning and fundraising for countless social and political events in support of the Democratic Party. In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his wife, Dolores M. Howland; also by his brother, LeRoy Howland and sister, Doreen Steele. He is survived by his children, Anna (Judy Williams) Howland, Richard A. (Debra) Jr., Mary George, John (Nadine Edwards), Steven (Joan), Jeffrey (Deanna) and Brian Howland; his sister, Barbara Spinella; his companion, Deanna Hitchcock; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. A visitation will be held on Monday from 9 to 11 am, followed by a funeral service at 11 am, all at Light’s Funeral Home, 1428 State St., Schenectady. Following services interment with military honors will take place at 1:30 pm at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association.
