On Thursday, December 9, 2021, Robert Lee Evans, Sr. departed this life at the age of 82. Bob was born on April 14, 1939 in Schenectady, NY to Walter and Mozelle (nee Murry) Evans. Following his education, Bob proudly served his country in the US Navy. He worked as an electrician for General Electric R&D Center and was a longtime member of the IUE-CWA Local 301. On December 6, 1969, he married Dorothy Mae Horton. They reared one son, Robert Lee Evans, Jr. Bob was a devoted husband and father and avid photographer. He loved the New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. He was a music enthusiast and Earth, Wind and Fire fanatic. He enjoyed playing cards, collecting coins and watching war movies on the History Channel. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers William and Claude Joseph Evans. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, son, Bobby, 2 sisters-in-law Geneva Horton and Anita Horton Turner, 5 brothers-in-law Michael, Larry, Roland, Wayne and Wendell Horton, a goddaughter, several nieces and nephews. His quick wit, compassionate spirit, and joie de vivre will be deeply missed by his friends, family, coworkers and all who knew him. A viewing will be held 4-6 pm followed by a funeral service at 6 pm on Thursday, December 16, at Light’s Funeral Home, 1428 State Street, Schenectady. On Friday, interment with military honors will take place at 11 am at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. Reverend Brenda Shaw will officiate.
