Ronald "Ron" & Betty Dzikowski

November 4, 2021

Schenectady- Husband and wife, Ronald “Ron” J. Dzikowski, Jr. 71 and Betty A. Dzikowski, 85, both of Schenectady passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021 within a few hours of each other. Married on November 21, 1980, they spent 40 years of beautiful marriage together. Ron was born on February 18, 1950 in Schenectady, the son of the late Ronald J. and Isabelle (Dzikowski) Ingalls. He grew up in the Schenectady and the Samford area and attended local schools. Ron was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Moose Lodge #249 in Schenectady. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening and was an avid camper. Ron was a fan of the New York Giants and wrestling, dedicating his Monday and Wednesday nights to watching it on the television alongside Betty. Jolly and an all-around happy man, Ron loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and held those memories close to his heart. He would dress up as Santa Claus for the Christmas season for his grandchildren. Also enjoyed spending time with his best bud, Kevin Iovino. Betty was born on June 28, 1936 in Ausable Forks, New York, the daughter of the late Walter and Cora (LaFountain) LaBombard. Betty attended McKinley Junior High School. She moved to the Schenectady area when she was 16 years old. After moving to Florida for a few years, Betty relocated back to the area with her family in 1977. She was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Schenectady and a member of the Moose Lodge #249 in Schenectady. Betty enjoyed puzzles of any kind, sewing and crocheting, gardening and was an avid wrestling fan and camper. As the beloved matriarch of her family, the memories she held closest to her heart were the ones she spent with her beloved family, attending family functions, and watching her grandchildren. Ron and Betty both took great pride in helping with the raising of multiple grandchildren. They would also spend many nights together playing cards or dice against each other. In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by his brother, David Dzikowski and his sisters, Sue Jacqueway and Cory Ingalls-Swint. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her brothers, Eli LaBombard and James LaBombard and her sisters, Veronica Walkingstick and Delphine Lombard. They were survived by their loving children, Christine (Tom) Ayers, Larry (Claudia) King, Kenneth (Vienna) King, Mark (Jean) King and Tina (Mick) Cook; Betty’s siblings, Wallace LaBombard, Alice Parish and Winnie Conde; Ron’s siblings, Ernie Dzikowski and Maddy Heisler; 20 grandchildren; a host of great- grandchildren, great- great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special nephew, Kevin Iovino, and cousins. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State Street, Schenectady with a funeral service immediately following. Memorial donations may be made in Betty or Ron’s name to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, 501 New Karner Rd # 2B, Albany, NY 12205 or the National Rifle Association of America, 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030.
